187. REFLECTION AND MINDFULNESS It is easy to lose sight of yourself in the fast-paced world of the United Kingdom. Nigerians here frequently work multiple shifts to pay expenses, send money home, and make ends meet. But without times of meditation and mindfulness, you become a machine that runs but does not truly live. Reflection is the practice of pausing to assess where you are, whereas mindfulness is being present in the moment. They work together to create balance. Reflection enables you to evaluate your journey. Every Nigerian abroad should question himself, "Why am I here?" Am I growing? Am I just surviving, or am I building? Without introspection, years can pass and you may discover that you are locked in the same routine. Pausing allows you to redirect your energy. Mindfulness, on the other hand, focusses on appreciating the present moment.
